According to decision No. 17 of the Tartu City Government dated 09.04.2026, as of 01.09.2026 the daily meal cost in municipal kindergartens in Tartu is €2.70 (breakfast €0.59, lunch €1.43, afternoon snack €0.68). Open regulation →

Fee Exemption

If children from the same family attend municipal and private childcare institutions at the same time, the child attending the municipal system is exempt from the kindergarten fee, regardless of the children’s age order.

If a parent(s) and children have different registered addresses in the city of Tartu, an application must be submitted to the Education Department at , explaining the reasons preventing registration of a shared residence.

The Education Department informs parents about the kindergarten fee via the ARNO e-environment.
