Children’s Catering
Catering Provider and Meal Costs As of 01.07.2021, children’s catering in the kindergarten is provided by Baltic Restaurants Estonia AS. Our kindergarten’s catering provider has applied for an organic catering label, and more than 50% of the ingredients used in the kindergarten menu are organic. Children are offered EU-subsidised school milk products every day, and since 24.09.2012, school fruit has also been provided. According to decision No. 18 of the Tartu City Government dated 08.12.2025, as of 01.01.2026 the daily meal cost in Tartu Lotte Kindergarten is €2.60 (breakfast €0.57, lunch €1.38, afternoon snack €0.65). According to decision No. 17 of the Tartu City Government dated 09.04.2026, as of 01.09.2026 the daily meal cost in municipal kindergartens in Tartu is €2.70 (breakfast €0.59, lunch €1.43, afternoon snack €0.68). Open regulation → Changing Meal Options Parents can choose or change the number of meals provided for their child by giving at least one week’s notice. To do so, a message must be sent via ELIIS to the kindergarten management and the child’s group teachers. The message should include the child’s name, group, the desired meal arrangement, and the date from which the change should take effect. The meal plan can be adjusted on a weekly basis if needed. Reporting Absence If a child’s absence is reported by 3:00 p.m. on the previous working day, the child will be excluded from all meals for the following day. If the absence is reported on the same day, no later than 9:00 a.m., breakfast for that day must still be paid for, while lunch and the afternoon snack will be deducted. If a parent is late with the notification or does not inform the kindergarten at all, the full daily meal cost will be included in the meal fee. Parents are asked to report the child’s absence via ELIIS. Meal Times in Two Shifts As of 25.08.2025, children eat in the kindergarten dining hall in two shifts. 1st shift: Kirjud Linnupojad, Lõbusad Rännukoerad and Sinised Elevandid 2nd shift: Tragid Kassid, Paid Pähklijänesed and Usinad Sajajalgsed Breakfast: 8.30–9.00 a.m / 1st shift; 8.40–9.10 a.m / 2nd shift Lunch: 12.15–12.45 p.m / 1st shift; 13.00–13.30 p.m / 2nd shift Afternoon snack: 15.30–16.00 p.m / 1st shift; 16.00–16.30 p.m / 2nd shift Special Menus and Adjustments Tartu Lotte Kindergarten does not provide special menus for children. However, based on an agreement between the parent and the kindergarten’s catering provider, adjustments to the daily menu can be made, such as excluding or replacing certain ingredients.
